PINE NEEDLES

Pine-Needle technique is a unique technique of wet felt making. I was inspired by the pine needles spread on the snow in one winter morning in my home town, Sapporo. Pine Needles is lacy fine felt, it is very soft and delicate but strong enough to wear.

This is something only your clever hands can do and this is what I love.

We are going to make a small sample to learn the basic of the technique and learn how to make it in the scale of a scarf. We will combine the very fine regular felt ma

king which is also good to learn for your own further projects.

This includes making a sample and the workshop is suited for both experienced and beginning felters.

Lesley showed us how to make lovely nuno felted scarves having the silk as the right side.

Some people recycled silk scarves which looked lovely.

Jeanette put a lot of time into hers with a lovely result.

Day 1 of the workshop we made prefelts with lots of embellishment then when they were dry shock horror we had to cut them up and share our pieces with everyone.

We then rearranged these pieces on another prefelt and added more embellishment bringing all these different pieces together.

Day 2 we made vessels using a resist.
